Above ground pool decks
One of the main problems faced by owners of above ground pools is what to do with the surrounding area. You need something to avoid dragging grass or dirt into the pool.... something which will stand up to the activities of boisterous kids and something which will continue looking good all throughout the year. And of course above ground pool decks need to reasonable in cost and ideally able to be added to or modified with changing circumstances.
So what are the alternatives?
Perhaps you could lay down a soft surfacing material directly on the ground
such as synthetic grass or interlocking plastic pavers. Or
maybe you could build a conventional wood deck. Although
custom built decks look great, they generally tend to be very expensive - maybe out of all proportion to the cost of the pool itself. And they don't
really offer the flexibility to change the size or design once the deck is built.
With HandyDeck decking tiles however, all that’s required is a hard, well compacted surface around the pool.
Ideally you would lay the tiles on bed of fine gravel, but
even if you don't have compacted gravel around the pool, you can still
lay the tiles over bare earth, provided a few precautions are taken. In particular you'll need to make sure the surface is
very firm and quite smooth (not bumpy) and lay a weed control mat under the tiles.
You can easily cut the tiles to shape to fit the curve of the pool wall with just a handsaw or jigsaw.
If you make a template with a piece of stiff cardboard it
helps to avoid making any mistakes in cutting the tiles and
will ensure you have a snug fit up against the pool wall.
But perhaps one of the major benefits of HandyDeck decking tiles is that
you can easily expand your deck in any direction, add to it
or remove it completely as you please. You could even pack it up and put it away for the next season if you want to. And of course if you have a favourite outdoor furniture setting or just a favourite deck chair, your
new pool deck will ensure a most attractive firm, stable support.
And there's no need to worry about tripping on the edge of the tiles. Reducer strips are available as an optional accessory which
simply clip to the outer row of tiles to provide a sloping transition to the
ground level.
HandyDeck's interlocking decking tiles are surely the perfect solution for an above ground pool deck - and they'll
continue to look great, day in day out, year after year.
